I bring all of it—art, discipline, and heart—into spaces that tell human stories and remind us that the best things are built with love and intention.
Art and design have always been my language—the way I made sense of the world–even as a child rearranging and painting my room for the feeling of harmony it brought. At eight years old, oil-painting was the first medium I fell in love with, and this was the age I began shadowing my late Aunt Kim, an interior designer, in clients' homes and shopping for decor. However, I initially sought a career in my parents footsteps, which inevitably provided me with invaluable skillsets and built within me a strong stirring to come back to my souls-longing.

everything worth doing, is worth doing well
Decades in business leadership and hospitality taught me the value of care and functionality for excellence. Spiritual mentorship, yoga teacher training and Feng Shui studies gave me a passion for the way spaces aligned with our values can propel us towards our goals. Overseeing the development of Chicago’s beelove café taught me how design can empower the community. After walking through the heartbreak of a twelve-year relationship that ended in divorce, I returned to my first love—art and home design—with renewed commitment: everything worth doing, is worth doing well.
In the beginning of 2022, I was helping friends rearrange and decorate their apartment, and from that experience I was connected to my first client. Through referrals I began interior design consulting that spring and by that summer I made the decision to turn my passionate hobby into a full-time career. Now, through Brehanna Joy Designs, I bring all of it—art, discipline, and heart—into spaces that tell human stories and remind us that the best things are built with love and intention.
I welcome clients who value more than aesthetics—those seeking a designer who collaborates to create a home that supports their daily habits and lifestyle.
SPACE
The art of working with positive and negative energy within space creates balance and draws the eyes to what is beautiful.
LIGHT
While lighting is a powerful tool for setting the tone, I also utilize light as an energetic tool for creating holistic designs.
FLOW
The functionality of a space is essential to harnessing a flow that matches the desired emotional and physical expectations for my clients.
ORGANIC
Engaging our senses and bringing the outdoors in is essential to designing for holistic health; all of my designs include a balance of the elements.
CONNECTION
Spaces have the potential to enhance connection internally and externally, creating an opportunity to experience the alchemy of 1 + 1 = 3.
Let's collaborate!
I'd love to get to know you and dream up your space.
